About Scott
What happened to Scott Wolt in 1988?
In 1988, Scott Wolt was involved in a catastrophic propane truck explosion that left more than 80% of his body burned. He spent hundreds of days in a specialized burn unit care center, many of them in a coma, and underwent more than 20 surgeries over the course of his recovery. By every medical expectation, he should not have survived.
Was Scott in the military when the accident happened?
Yes. Scott was serving in the U.S. military at the time of the explosion, making his story particularly significant to the veteran and military community as well as to burn survivors of all backgrounds.
How is Scott doing today?
Remarkably well. At 62 years old, Scott Wolt is a competitive bodybuilder with a physique that would be extraordinary for a person of any age โ let alone someone who survived 80%+ body burns. He is healthy, active, spiritually grounded, and deeply motivated to share his story with the world to help others who are suffering.
What is the "guardian angel" story?
Scott has spoken deeply about his belief that a guardian angel was present with him on the day of the explosion โ a real, felt presence that he credits with helping him survive when all physical odds said he should not have. This spiritual dimension is a central thread of his story and resonates deeply with faith communities worldwide.
